In early ministry, Sr. Barbara Harrington, a Dominican Sister of Peace, counseled Guatemalan women who had suffered violence. She also spent many years serving as a hospital Chaplin. Later, she moved to Massachusetts to help run the Crystal Spring Center for Ecology Spirituality and Earth Education, an ecological ministry of the Dominican Sisters of Peace.

As a founder of the Religious Lands Conservation Project, Sr. Barbara was instrumental in forming the Congregation’s ecological direction, leading the effort to place Crystal Spring into an ecological trust. Today, Sister Barb is letting the grass grow under her feet, literally, as she serves as an ecological volunteer for Wildlands Trust in Massachusetts. She has been a life-long student of the work of Thomas Berry.
